The Myths - Koi Pond Filter Systems

The two myths about ultraviolet
lights that are accepted as truths throughout the koi keeping industry.
You all know them.
Myth
#1 - ultraviolet light filtration is the only way to get clear water
unless you use chemical additives.
Fact: - The solution filtration system is the first mechanical
pressurized filter that completely filters out all algae's that
create your water to turn brown or green. This system creates crystal
clear water without any chemical or bacteria's added. No ultraviolet
needed.
Myth #2 - ultraviolet light filtration provides many other benefits
other than clear water.
Fact: This is very confusing and not true in over 90% of
application especially the small to medium size homeowner ponds.
The flow rate to kill anything other then algae is so slow that
the light starts losing its effect on the algae. So you then would
need to oversize your light to three times the recommended size
needed. No one wants to spend 2 to 3 times needed so most homeowners
don't and then there is no benefits other then algae kill.
We are of the belief that ultraviolet light filtration is a excellent
addition to your koi pond, but must be done at the right size and
flow rate and can be added at a later date so if budget does not
allow it is no longer a essential element to having a koi pond.
Now let's talk about biological filters

Obviously this is the
most important part of your filtration. Most of us that have used
pressurized bead filters have purchased them due to gallonage of
the pond; this is a huge mistake. Its all about fish load and sunlight.
The industry wants you to think
the bigger the pond the bigger the filter. That's because there
is a flaw in the filter concept of all bead filters. They all are
designed to biologically filter water but not mechanically clean
the water. That's why you need to backwash you filter to remove
the dirt that is clogging the intake in your bead filter. Due to
the dirt collection, your filter becomes less and less effective,
hence the need for a larger tank to hold more dirt and hold more
beads.
Now with the solution system
our beads never get dirty (never) so they can't clog so you never
need to backwash. Never.
Why choose The
Pond Solution?

True Stories:
A customer has a 15,000 pond with a 400 watt viper ultra violet
light (light cost over $2200 installed) large bio filter and a w.lim
separator ($2000 installed). This pond was professionally maintained
and for over 6 months never got clear. They added another 400 viper
(another $2200), the pond got better but no where near exceptable.
After 9 months they removed the separator, unplugged the lights
and installed The Solution System just as a pre filter ($800) and
within 3 days the water was crystal clear and has been that way
for over 4 months. This was during the South Florida summer.
Another customer has a 5000 gal pond
with 30" bio filter and 160 watt ultraviolet light with over
60 koi and 25 of them over 24" (lots of big koi feed heavy).
They struggled for over one year and could never get this pond clear
so they installed a 400 watt viper and it improved for a while and
then regressed to a green pond that only at feeding time they could
see the fish. They removed the all filtration and installed The
Solution System for under $1600 and the water cleared up in 24 hours
and is five ft. deep and crystal clear, over four months.
Check this out - A 6000 gal pond, ridiculously
stocked with koi. 30' bead filter kept the ammonia under control
with weekly backwashing. Replaced bead filter, which contained 3
cubic ft. of biological materials installed The Solution System
with less then 1 cubic ft of biological material. And this system
has kept the ammonia at zero for over 3 months.
The answer is clear - The
Solution System is the greatest breakthrough in koi pond filtration!
