Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose The Solution?
- It is the greatest breakthrough
in koi pond filtration technology in years.
- It's a pressurized prefilter that
actually works.
- It filters out all waterborn algae
so you won't need ultraviolet light anymore.
- It's affordable!
- It does not need electricity.
- It acts as a mechanical and biological
filter.
- No backwashing ever.
- There are no moving parts.
- No cleaning ever for the biological.
- Installation is a simple in and
out all at ground level.
What's a pre filter?
A pre filter is a additional filter that
is installed in line after the pump on the discharge side and is positioned
before the biological filter (or before the bead filter). This locating
is imperative so that the pre filter catches all the large particulate
so that the biological filter is kept clean.
The benefits for this is numerous.
1. Longer time between backwashing
2. Cleaning water
3. Much more effective biological filtration
Do I need a solution pre filter?
Could your water be clearer?
Do you want to backwash less?
Would you like to have the ability to remove your ultra violet light?
Do you have spikes in your water chemistry? (ammonia rises, nitrite
and nitrate spikes?)
If the answer is yes to any of these questions then you could benefit
from a pre filter from the solution.
What does the solution system do?
The solution system will filter your pond water in all three ways
within one apparatus. First the water passes thru the filter material
removing all particulate and all algae born material. Then the water
(now is free from all dirt) passes thru biological material that removes
all the toxin produced by your fish. And out comes crystal clean water.
How easy is it to install?
Believe it or not it is the easiest filter to install on the market
today.
Is the solution complicated to use?
Once again there are no moving parts and no valves to turn, so there
are absolutely no parts to break or have to replace do to wear. It
has no procedures to operate.
What's the catch? How can it be so
good?
After you install the solution the pads will accumulate dirt at different
rates depending on fish loads and sunlight and time of year. And at
the introducing of the solution the time between cleaning might be
3 to 4 days and then after approx. 6 weeks the duration between cleaning
will be from twice a month on large systems to every other month on
smaller systems. Now the cleaning of the pads is a dirty job but the
small system will take 5 minutes to clean and the large system take
15 minutes to clean (with a small pressure washer you can cut time
in half) now if cleaning sounds like its not your thing you can just
replace the pads monthly.
What do you mean I don't need
an ultra violet light?
The short answer is that this filter removes algae so your pond will
not get green.
The solution filtration system is the first mechanical pressurized
filter that completely filters out all algae's that create your water
to turn brown or green. This system creates crystal clear water without
any chemical or bacteria's added. No ultraviolet needed. The flow
rate to kill anything other then algae is so slow that the light starts
losing its effect on the algae. You would then need to oversize your
light to three times the recommended size needed. No one wants to
spend 2 to 3 times needed so most homeowners don't and then there
are no benefits other then algae kill.
We are of the belief that ultraviolet light filtration is a excellent
addition to your koi pond, but must be done at the right size and
flow rate and can be added at a later date so if budget does not allow
it is no longer a essential element to having a koi pond.
How do I know what size solution
I need?
The first number represents fish load at 12" per fish and the
last number represents approximate water Gallonage.
The systems are able to be used in conjunction with each other for
example;
4000 gallon pond and 30 fish you would install a 28-3000 and a 14-1000
which would be sufficient for your pond.
6000 gallon pond and 45 fish you would install 2 28-3000
Bigger ponds can be customized with a combination of the solution
and the solution plus.
The solution plus is a additional filter that only acts as biological
must be installed after the solution.
What happens incase of a power failure?
After a power failure all you do is drain the tank while you start
your pump. No opening of any tank no plumbing issue to deal with.
45 seconds and your done.
Definitions
of terms
Pump: The piece of equipment that moves the water
Submersible pump: is actually submerged under the water
External pump: is installed outside the pond just like a pool
pump.
Filter: the piece of equipment that water is pushed through
that removes dirt
Pressurized filter: a filter that is a closed unit that can
be installed at any position as long as it is after the pump.
Non pressurized filter: is gravity fed and must be installed
above grade of pond.
Ultraviolet light: a cylindrical tube that water is pushed
through that has a bulb inside ( no light is actually emitted except
a slight glow possibly from the ends).
Mechanical filtration: the removal of particulate
Biological filtration: the removal of toxins produced by fish
waste
